The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) was established in 1991 by the Punjab Provincial Assembly Act. In 2004, PEF was reorganized and UNESCO Confucius Prize winner Dr. Allahbakhsh Malik was appointed as its first Director General/Executive Director (2005-2008).

The first board of directors consisted of Mr. Shahid Hafeez Kardar, former Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, Group Captain Cecil Chaudhry, National Hero Ms. Shaista Pervaiz Malik, and Mr. Khalid Akhlaq Gilani PAS, Secretary of the Department of School Education. Dr. Malik developed a vision for the foundation of the reorganization.

Currently, more than 2.6 million students receive free and quality education in 7,468 partner schools in Punjab. The Punjab Education Foundation is an independent legal entity from the Government of Punjab operating under the good direction of its 15-member Board of Directors (BOD) headed by a Chairman elected from among the private members.

Currently, the PEF is looking to hire applications to hire Watchmen. Desired applicants from all over Punjab having intermediate qualifications can apply for these vacancies. Candidates between 20 and 40 years of age can apply.
